Football’s biggest night is almost here, and for many people the most exciting part of the Big Game is the event’s annual halftime show. Usher will be the headlining performer at Super Bowl LVIII, which will see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 11.
The game is a rematch of Super Bowl 54, when the Chiefs beat the 49ers, 31-20, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce has been dominant and he finished with 11 catches on 11 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens, passing Jerry Rice for the most career postseason catches for any player in NFL history with 156. Kelce also tied Rice for the most 100-yard receiving games in postseason history with his performance, doing so for the eighth time.
However, Kansas City's defense has set the tone in the playoffs, allowing 13.7 points per game in victories over Miami, Buffalo and Baltimore.
San Francisco rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat Detroit, 34-31, in the NFC Championship Game. The 49ers finished 12-5 in the regular season, and coach Kyle Shanahan will play for a Super Bowl title for the second time in five seasons.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been solid throughout the postseason and will make his Super Bowl debut. Running back Christian McCaffrey is the third player in NFL history to register 50 or more yards from scrimmage and one or more touchdowns in each of his first six career playoff games.
